Ross Holden was born in upstate New York in a small town called Elmira, NY. He attended a small academy in 8th grade and that’s where his soccer experience story begins. While playing at Elmira Free Academy in 2007, Ross made the All-Division squad. Again in 2008 and 2009, he held a spot on this highly talented squad making it to All-Section and All-State, respectively. In high school, he was a standout All-Star for Williston Northampton School WNEPSSA’s team in 2010.
Ross entered the NPSL with in 2013 with the San Diego Flash. The following year he moved back east to play with Greater Binghamton FC in 2014 and played 6 games total. The Thunder made it to regional finals by defeating D.C. United U23 1-0. They would fall to the U23 Red Bulls in the finals of the NE Regional Final.
Ross’ brother had already lived in San Diego and encouraged him to check out schools in the San Diego region. After a quick visit, Ross was hooked on San Diego and enrolled at San Diego State University. He is the caption of SDSU’s Club soccer team along with Battalion teammate Connor Mazolewski .
Ross is currently studying biology and wants to remain in San Diego for the long term.
