Michigan Deteresa, born in 1997, is one of the youngest members on the NC Battalion squad at 19 years old. Deteresa got his start playing soccer growing up in the San Diego community of Mira Mesa. While starting for the varsity team at Mira Mesa High School, he was selected to be a part of the San Diego Football Academy in 2014. SDFA is a strong reflection of the talent that exists around San Diego county high schools. In addition to that honor, Michigan has played for various club teams in the region – PQ Premier, Poway Vaqueros and Carmel Valley Manchester.
His parents, Ethel and Richard, are huge fans of the 1990s Michigan basketball team. When they found out they were having a boy, Michigan was the most obvious name choice. When he is not out on the pitch, Michigan satisfies his creative side by making movies and music videos in his spare time.
This season with NC Battalion will be his first time playing for a NPSL club.
