Michael was born Los Angeles, but spent most of his childhood growing up in the greater San Diego area. He began playing soccer with a local American Youth Soccer Organization team before joining the Carlsbad Lighting Soccer Club, now known as the MLS affiliated LA Galaxy San Diego. After several seasons with the Lightning, Michael joined the San Diego Surf and went on to win the Surf Cup twice as well as the National State Cup Far West Regional where he assisted the game-winning goal. As a two-year varsity player at La Costa Canyon High School, Michael earned MVP during his senior year as well as All Avocado West League First Team honors.
Following graduation from high school, Michael was recruited by Humboldt State University in Northern California. After two seasons starting as an outside back with the Lumberjacks, he transferred to play Division I soccer at CSU Northridge where he made his debut in a win over UNLV.
Michael recently logged his first international experience with a pro showcase across Scandinavia.
