Joe grew up just north of San Diego a little town called North Tustin, CA. Growing up in a large family, he is one of five boys and is no stranger to working in a team. It is in his hometown where he gained his love of soccer. He did not play soccer until his high school years but that did not stop him from excelling on the pitch.
A 2002 graduate of Foothills High School, Joe was his team’s MVP and helped them to a 17-2-5 record and a spot in the CIF Quarterfinals. Following high school, he moved on to the prestigious University of California, San Diego where he majored in Environmental Chemistry. In addition to succeeding in the classroom, Joe was a star on the field. As a freshman at UCSD, he started 9 matches with a record of 7-1-1 in the games that he appeared in. His sophomore and junior years were just the same recording goals and assists for the UCSD Triton men’s soccer team.
Following college, Joe pursued a career in the pharmaceutical industry and currently works as a scientist. He did not forget his love for the game and played with the San Diego Flash for 5 years. Having scored a memorable goal versus the Xolos (Club Tijuana), Joe is happy to continue his passion for soccer with the NC Battalion.
He is married to his wife, Jen, and they have 2 children, Sophia and Gavin. In addition to playing soccer, Joe is an avid Arsenal supporter.
