NC Battalion WINS First Friendly Match!

NC Battalion FacebookOn Tuesday, February 9, the Battalion squad traveled to San Diego State University for a scrimmage with the school’s club team. It was the first fixture for the team since training began and it was open to the public. Being able to test out different formations and put the technical skills together is an important part of the NC Battalion training schedule. Coach Gio mentioned that “getting out on the field is key because we can really figure out what areas we need to improve on and what works for success.

The fixture remained scoreless through the first half as Coach Gio and the assistant coaches observed the guys in action. Intensity from both sides broke down when Ryan Guy scored the official goal for NC Battalion off a penalty kick in the 57th minute. Adam Meltz (also known as Cheezy) topped it off with an 80th-minute goal to seal the deal.

While the 2-0 result is satisfying, Coach Gio credited the work ethic of all the players that were on the pitch that night. “You can teach the technical skills to these guys but, their heart really impressed me.
