Battalion Fall to East Bay FC At Home

With much anticipation, the East Bay FC Stompers traveled approximately 500 miles to visit fellow 2016 NPSL playoff contender this past weekend. This match, the fourth in a lineup of fall exhibitions, proved to be the toughest battle yet for the Battalion. Donning their white kits, NCB found themselves down two goals in the first half and were never able to recover. Despite their best efforts to change the course of the game, the final score was 2-5 in favor of the visiting Easy Bay FC Stompers.

Battalion looked fresh in the opening minutes of the game, controlling possession and creating chances; however, the stingy East Bay FC defense consistently denied Battalion scoring opportunities. The Stompers scored first in the opening seven minutes of the match when a dribbler off the foot of Khalid Arramdani managed to sneak past the outstretched fingers of GK James Stroud. Arramdani scored his second goal of the match just before halftime in the 38th minute off a header from Tommy Rodda.

Going into halftime, it was apparent that Battalion needed to adjust for the men to pull out a come-from- behind victory. Arramdani had other plans; he scored his third of the day in the 49th minute giving the Stompers a commanding 3-0 lead and making an NCB win more improbable.

Battalion got their first goal in the 56th minute on a corner kick service from newcomer Armand Bagramyan. Austin Rovazzini was able to get his head on the ball for his first goal as an NC Battalion player and cut the deficit by one. Still trailing by two goals, Battalion had a long way to go and less than 40 minutes to make that happen.

The team from East Bay had no plans to let Battalion back into the game and scored two additional goals in the 73rd and 85th minute. A penalty kick for Battalion put another goal up on the scoreboard, but the Stompers had sealed the win by that point.

Next weekend, the Battalion will have a week off and return to the pitch on November 6th squaring off against NPSL Southwest Conference opponent Corinthians USA. The match will be an opportunity for Battalion to get back on track, but more importantly, it will feature a Toys for Toys Donation Drive. Stay tuned to our website for more details!
