In the second leg of the San Diego Derby the North County Battalion battled with the Albion Pros to a nil-nil draw. The Battalion fed off their strong traveling supporters who made Mission Bay High School seem like Del Norte South.
The Battalion started off strong and aggressive in the first half. They had a number of solid chances that just missed, including a free kick by Sergio Ortiz that hit the crossbar. Unfortunately North County was unable to find the back of the net with their chances.
The momentum quickly shifted two minutes into the second half when Nelson Pizarro was given his second yellow card of the game, which led to an automatic red card. With the Battalion down to ten men, Albion took advantage and put the pressure on the boys. Goalkeeper James Stroud and his defense were up for the challenge, stonewalling every opportunity by Albion.
North County got back in the game in the 78th minute when an Albion player received a red card after a second yellow. With the field even once again the Battalion went on the offensive looking for the game winner. After some near misses the Battalion had to settle for the draw and the one point.
Next week your North County Battalion continue their road trip, this time to Glendora, California for a match against Corinthians SC. The game starts at 7 pm next Saturday and we will bring the game live for you on NCB Live.
